Pearl "Jean" Trail
December 06, 2016
Pearl “Jean” Trail passed away at her home Tuesday, December 6, 2016, at the age of 83.
Jean was born on April 13, 1933 in Ravanna, Missouri to Chester and Mauda Shilt. She moved to the Des Moines area in 1950, but was always a farm girl at heart and collected anything and everything “rooster”. Jean married Bazil Romain Trail in 1949. Together they raised five children, which included two sets of twins. Jean worked in food service and bar management, retiring in 1989 from the Metropolitan Club, where she had been the bar manager for many years. She was a woman of great strength and stability.
Jean is survived by her children, Diana Brown, Lita Trail, Rita (Joseph) Wingert, Kenneth Trail and Dorothy Matherly; 14 grandchildren, 16, great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren and a host of extended family and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Bazil; brothers, Russell, Robert, Leonard and Chester; and her sisters, Thelma, Golda, Mary, Leta, Laura Bell and Patty.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Amanda Smith with Aging Advocates; the employees of Comfort Keepers and Hospice of Unity Point. We could not have asked for better care and compassion from them all.
The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, December 9, 2016 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Jean.
