Rita Bishop

Kathryn “Rita” Bishop, 89, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Kavanagh on 56th Street.

Rita was born January 10, 1928 in Greenfield, Iowa to Anna (Spain) and John O’Brien. She graduated from Menlo High School. She retired as a purchasing assistant in 1993 from MTA (Metro Transit Authority) after 22+ years of loyal service. Rita loved time with her grandkids, gardening, doing yoga and playing Bingo. She enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune and Sister Angelica. She also like to mall walk, visit with her friends and take part in lots of volunteer work.

Rita is survived by her daughters, Anna Bishop, Mari (David) Moulder and Lisa Luncsford; 11 grandchildren, Michelle, Shannon, Stephanie, Katie, Renee, Michael, Brooke, Julia, Corbin, Brandon and Emily; 12 great-grandchildren, Amara, David, T.J., Barry, Ritchie, Giovanni, Nathan, Neiko, Nataleah, Jo, Gio and Gabriella; sister, Theresa Powell; brother, John O’Brien; and many other loving family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, David Bishop; grandson, Bradley and five siblings.

The family will greet friends from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 20, 2017 with Mass of Christian Burial to begin at 10 a.m. at St. Ambrose Cathedral, 607 High Street. Rita will be laid to rest at Glendale Cemetery.
