Marlene L. Stanley

Marlene L. Stanley, 81, passed away on April 23, 2017, at Taylor House in Des Moines. She was born in Elkhart, Iowa on June 24, 1935, the daughter of Archie and Mable (Mathis) Herman.

Marlene graduated from Elkhart High School in 1953. She met and married the love of her life, Eugene on November 25, 1956 and shared 50 years together. Marlene worked for Central Life Insurance Company for 15 years and then at Mercy Hospital for 31 years where she enjoyed serving the patients with love and compassion. She loved flowers, her dog, Fox and especially spending time with family and friends.

Marlene is survived by her daughter, Diane (Ted) Schulze; granddaughters, Rae Jeanna (Ben) Nyland and Suzy Schulze; brother, Kenneth (Bernice) Herman; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene; parents; grandson, Kyle Schulze; and infant sister, Wanita Herman.

Funeral services will be held at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines on Friday, April 28, 2017, at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Elkhart Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5 to 7 p.m.
