Randy Van Hosen

Randy Van Hosen died on March 16, 2008, after his seven month battle with cancer. Randy was born on December 2, 1949 in Des Moines to Bob and Alice Van Hosen. Randy’s legendary band, Roze, played throughout Iowa for over 30 years, doing a record breaking 1200 live shows, and six recordings of original material that is still being heard today. Randy’s legend is now being kept alive at the Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association where Randy was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2006. Randy’s extended family includes all his friends at RHI Printing, where he worked for 15 years. He will be sorely missed by all of his friends with ABATE. In addition to his mother, Randy is survived by his loving wife, Reven. He also leaves in passing, sister, Pam Turner (Dennis Larson); niece, Shelly Lapidow; nephew, Mike Turner; his band members and very many friends. Randy meant so much to so many. He was a loving husband, poet, lyricist and composer whose gentle spirit will always be in our hearts. This is not goodbye sweetheart, I’ll see you soon. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 21, 2008, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines. Family will visit with friends from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. The family requests that all donations be directed to the Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association Scholarship Foundation, 91 Lake Street, PO Box 557, Arnolds Park, IA 51331.
