William Greenwood

William Greenwood, 92, passed away October 31, 2017 at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines. Thanksgiving for Life Services will be held Monday, November 6, 2017 at 11:00 a.m., at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church, 1024 Ashworth Road, West Des Moines, IA. William was a member of the church for over 30 years and he took pride in being the oldest living member. Visitation will begin prior to the service at 9:30 a.m.

William was born in Pennsylvania, and after serving in the Air Force during World War II, moved to New Jersey to be with his bride, Rosalie. They lived in Newark and Irvington, NJ raising their two sons and called New Jersey home for 32 years. They moved to West Des Moines to be with their son and grandchildren.

He enjoyed fishing, gardening, volunteering in his church and babysitting his grandchildren and later his great-grandchildren.

William is survived by his grandchildren, Matthew Greenwood, Kayla Greenwood, and Justin Greenwood; great-grandchildren, Zachary Greenwood, Kayliana Thomas, and Zaniyah Thomas; and daughter-in-law, Karen Greenwood. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosalie Greenwood; and sons, Leroy Greenwood and Wayne Greenwood.
