LaRay A. Chapman, 86, passed away January 31, 2018. She was born November 3, 1931, in Rockford, Iowa, to Nilus and Alta Hanawalt.
LaRay cherished her family and their time spent together. She enjoyed being outdoors gardening, walking, or riding her bike. LaRay also enjoyed traveling, jigsaw puzzles, and bowling with her bowling league.
LaRay is survived by her children, Kevin Belz, Kristy (Darrell) Henning, and Kelly Belz; daughter-in-law, Sandy (Kendall) Belz Williams; seven grandchildren, Brandi Belz, Tiffiny (Adam) Perpich, Ryan Belz, Danielle Belz, Kristopher (Lindsey) McKenna, Trent (Sarah) Belz, and Kendra Belz; five great-grandchildren, Jayden Peterson, Aevrie Nelson, William Perpich, Faith Perpich, and Grady Belz; her siblings, Deloris (Don) Ott and Pete Hanawalt; as well as other loving family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband and father of her children, Glenn Eugene Belz; son, Kendall Belz; and Harold Chapman.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 p.m. on Monday, February 5, 2018, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home one hour prior to service time.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Glen Echo Christian Church in loving memory of LaRay.

Know that my thoughts are with all of you today. I am so thankful that Ryan and Danielle were able to spend time with their grandmother in her final weeks. They will cherish that memory always, as I'm sure you all will.

LaRay was one of my very best friends and we enjoyed a lot of years as friends and co-workers. She will truly be missed.
