William Howard Harper

William Howard Harper, 87, passed away June 22, 2018 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. Services will be held on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines at 12:00 p.m. with visitation one hour prior. A private family burial will be held at a later date at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Bill was born on February 9, 1931 to Howard and Emmogene (Rife) Harper in Missouri Valley, Iowa. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Bill worked as an inspector for Delavan Manufacturing until his retirement. In his free time, Bill enjoyed golf, tinkering in his garage, but most of all spending time with his family.

He will be greatly missed by his wife, Gayle Harper; daughter, Teri (Randy) Best; grandchildren, Josh (Becky) Beechum and Austin Best; great-granddaughters, Alexandria and Amelia Beechum; brother, Robert “Bob” (Jane) Harper; and many extended family and friends. Bill was preceded in death by his son, Michael.
