James Lee Overton

James Lee Overton, 47, passed away unexpectedly from natural causes on Monday, November 11, 2019 at his home. He was born July 26, 1972 in Des Moines.

James retired from the US Navy as a Boatswains Mate 1st Class, serving from 1989 to 2009. He had an enormous love for his country and was proud to have served. He was currently working at EFCO Manufacturing in the warehouse area. James was a member of VFW Post 2099 and enjoyed writing.

James is survived by his mother, Jane Bell; father, Gary Overton; siblings, Melissa (Ed) Pagliai, Jennifer (Ryan) Cole, Timothy Overton, and John Overton; nieces and nephews, Ed, Victoria, Nicola, Haley, Christopher, Makayla, Delaney, and Jayven; his beloved dog, Ringo; and a host of other loving family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, November 18, 2019 at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th St SW, Altoona, with burial to follow at the Bondurant Cemetery in Bondurant. Family will greet friends from 2 PM to 4 PM Sunday, November 17, 2019 at the funeral home.
