Joan (Davis) Lumbard, 86 years of age, passed away peacefully at her home in Windsor Heights, Iowa on August 3, 2020 surrounded by her family.

She was born on January 20, 1934 in Corvallis, Montana to Charles Elmas Davis and Emily Elvira (O’Field) Davis.

She attended Open Bible Institute in Eugene, Oregon from 1954 to 1957 and was a long-time minister with Open Bible Churches.

She married Del Lumbard in Lewiston, Idaho on June 2, 1956 officiated by her Pastor M.J. Stewart.

With a strong faith in Jesus since the age of 20, Joan gave her life completely to serving Him. She raised three sons who chose to carry on her legacy of faith. She became a “Mom” to many, a counselor, mentor, confidante and friend. People often said her wise counsel changed their lives. She was a woman of Grace. She was used often for singing, teaching and speaking. She led children’s ministries, helped at church camps and directed dramas and musicals. Through the years she loved to write encouraging articles about what God was teaching her. She was involved in most areas of ministry alongside her husband Del. She had a strong love and faith in God and loved her family and friends deeply.

She was preceded in death by her Mother and Father, her siblings, her son Richard “Ric” Lumbard and her infant granddaughter Alexandra Lumbard.

Joan is survived by her husband, Leigh Adelbert “Del” Lumbard; her sons, Michael Lumbard (Pam), Marvin Lumbard (Diana), and her daughter-in-law, Christie Lumbard; her sister-in-law, Emelia Lumbard; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and many other family members.

Her memorial service will be officiated by Pastor Charles Cole of Experience Church, 3800 E. Douglas Ave. in Des Moines on Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at 3:00 p.m.

Private interment will be held at Lincoln Cemetery.
