Service Details

William Henry Volz, 83, died Friday, January 29, 2010 at his home surrounded by loved ones. A visitation will begin 10:30 AM until service time at 11:30 A.M., Tuesday, February 2nd at Ft. Des Moines United Methodist Church, 6205 SW 9th Street. A private interment will be at Resthaven Mausoleum.

Bill worked at Firestone for 31 years. He was a member of Local 310 United Autoworkers, Southgate Masonic Temple, Ft. Des Moines United Methodist Church for over 44 years and was vice president of MDA.

Bill and his loving wife, Jean, spent every summer for 30 years at Lakeside Acres, in Clear Lake. They both enjoyed boating on the Captain Dan and partying with all of their friends. Bill was an avid golfer and was especially proud of his first hole-in-one at age 73 at All-Vets Golf Course in Clear Lake. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and was well respected by everyone who knew him. He will be dearly missed by all and especially his dog, Sassy.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Jean Volz; children, Larry (Paula) Hylbak, Sherri (David) Little; grandchildren, Kindra (Steve) Chen, Krista Hylbak, Eric Little, Nicole Little; great grandchildren, Danica and Colin Chen; and his beloved sister, Kay Compiano He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Danny Volz and his brothers Bob and Don Volz.

Bill’s family extends sincere thanks to the Hospice staff for the excellent and loving care given to Bill and his family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ft. Des Moines United Methodist Church.
