Junior worked at Meredith Publishing Company as a pressman, where he retired after forty-seven years. Junior was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish, and trap. He would take his vacation and the whole family would go trapping. He was known as one of the best trappers around the area. He was featured in newspapers and the Iowa Conservation magazine for his trapping skills. Fishing was another passion he liked to do with family and friends. He took multiple trips to Canada and Alaska where he fished for walleye, salmon, and halibut.

Most of all he loved to have all his family around him. He always said his family was his greatest treasure. Junior would say it’s not what you get out of life, it’s what you put into life. He was one of a kind, a legend in his time.
