Bradley "Joe" Burgett
December 27, 1972 — November 15, 2025
Bradley “Joe” Burgett, 52, of Des Moines passed away Saturday, November 15, 2025.
Joe was born December 27, 1972, in Des Moines to Sandra (Evans) and Thomas Burgett, Sr. He graduated from Lincoln High School and continued with the family’s pride of the Southside.
Joe spent a great deal of his professional career at John Deere. He was a union member and held the position of Union Steward until he passed the title onto the next. Joe used his position to guide with a strong moral compass and lead by example of what was right.
Outside of work, the Philadelphia Eagles were the highlight of Joe’s social calendar. He loved everything about football season: the game, win or lose, the food; wings, dips, deviled eggs and the jokes that came out of gathering with friends and family. Joe was known to be able to make his presence known in whatever environment he was in by laughing at the silliest of jokes with his kids and friends. His kids joked that, “some people light up a room, he could stink up a room”.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Sandra and Thomas Burgett, Sr.
He is survived by his children, Brandon (Trevor) Lennox, Lexi Leach, and Kayla (Erys Mallett) Burgett; granddaughter, Avaiya; significant other, Jessica Byers; and siblings, Thomas Burgett Jr., and Brian (Kim) Burgett.
The family will greet friends Saturday, December 13, 2025 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm with the funeral service to follow at 12:00 pm at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street in Des Moines.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Joe.

I am sorry we could not make it today with the road conditions. Each and everyone of you are my family and always will be. Joe was my youngest brother and like all of us was not perfect. However, Joe had a heart of gold and when he wasn't with family, he was extremely shy. He added so much to the laughs we had at all the various family gatherings. Joe's sudden passing has weighed heavily on me. I know he is with Grandma and Papa now, likely making the place smell of farts. I had many serious conversations with just Joe and no one else. I will cherish those talks with him. I tried my best to be a big sister to him. Being the only sister for so long, Joe always made me feel included. Not being there for the final goodbye is very hard. I am there in spirit. Love to everyone.
