Timothy Matthew Voll
November 26, 1976 – August 25, 2025

Timothy “Tim” Matthew Voll, 48, of Ankeny, passed away on Monday, August 25, 2025.

Tim was born on November 26, 1976, and married the love of his life, Erica, on July 20, 2002. Together, they built a life centered on love, creativity, and family. He was a devoted husband and a proud father to Matthew (Mia) Voll.

A 1998 graduate of DMACC with an associate degree in Graphic Design, Tim’s creativity was evident in everything he did. He loved painting, experimenting with different art mediums, and sharing his talents with others. He was the author of Video Gamer and founder of Fatty Publishing Company. He also enjoyed contributing to short films and celebrating all things creative.

A true fan at heart, Tim cheered passionately for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and was a die-hard Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan. He had a special love for retro video games, especially Atari and arcade classics, and never passed up an opportunity to play Madden on his PS3 or PS4.

Tim’s family was his world. He deeply loved and fiercely protected them, always watching out for their safety—even going so far as to add bumpers to all furniture when his son was born. Known for his big dreams and unstoppable determination, Tim had a way of making ideas a reality. His family often said, “That’s Tim’s way,” and marveled at how he always found a way to get things done.

He is survived by his mother, Patricia Voll of Des Moines; his brother Jeff (Susan) Voll of Bondurant; his sister Katie (Jeremy) Sharon of West Des Moines; his best friend and brother Jason (Amy) Mitchell of Indianola; his niece and nephew, Tyne and Zeke Sharon; and many other relatives and friends who loved him.

Tim was preceded in death by his father Jim Voll; his nephew Tyler Voll; his in-laws, Berla and John Edsill; and his grandparents, Vera and Darwin Weaver, and Phyllis and Kenneth Voll.

Tim will be remembered for his creativity, his humor, his loyalty, and above all, his unwavering love for his family.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, August 29, 2025 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will begin at 10 a.m., Saturday, August 30, 2025, at First Family Church, 317 SE Magazine Rd, Ankeny, followed by burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
