Bubba Griffiths
September 27, 2021
Christopher “Bubba” Paul Griffiths, age 19, passed away unexpectedly due to injuries sustained in a tragic automobile accident on Monday, September 27, 2021.
Bubba was born November 2, 2001 to Steve and Jodie Griffiths in Des Moines, Iowa. He grew up in Des Moines and was a mechanic by trade. He started his work career at Buffalo Wild Wings where he worked for a number of years and considered his coworkers his extended family. He only left his B-Dubs family because he had the opportunity to get his foot in the door at his dream job at WOW Automotive (World of Wheels.) He loved working on cars and had dreams of opening his own business, “Bubba’s Garage”. He was humble, smart, kind, and the life of the party. He had such a bright smile and a laugh that was contagious, and the biggest heart. Whether you knew him for 5 minutes or for 5 years you fell in love with him. He followed in his dad's footsteps when it came to anything about working on cars or racing. His passion for cars ran deep from the small age of 3 and continued to grow the older he got. His prize possession was his red Honda “HONDILY”. This gave him the drive and ambition to redo the whole car this winter. Bubba was a true gentleman and a jack-of-all-trades.
He is survived by his mother, Jodie Griffiths; father and step-mother, Steve and Rachel Griffiths; grandparents, Connie and Dave Spoonholtz; sisters, Megan, Mariah and Madison Griffiths; step-brother, Kyler Sarsfield; brothers by choice, Mike Stevenson, Jake “Vozie” Vosberg, Kyle “K-Swizz” Schwartz, Kirkland Darling and Taylor Porter; aunts, Julie Vosberg (John “Johnny Bear” Mandracchia) and Janice Lewis; uncles, Dave (Wendy) Spoonholtz and Tim Vosberg; nieces and nephew, Emma Jo (6), Aaliyah (6), Jaxon (3) and Amiyah (1); cousins, Jake (Renee and their daughter Elora), Brianna, Jessica, Michael and Sam; and many other loving family members and special friends.
Bubba was preceded in death by his grandparents, Howard and Judy Griffiths; great grandparents, Delores and Paul Phoenix, Margaret and Tom Smith, and Phylis and Darwin Spoonholtz; and his great-uncle, Paul Phoenix, Jr.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., followed by funeral service at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 3, 2021 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Following the funeral, we will have a luncheon at Fraternal Order of Eagles, 6567 Bloomfield Road, Des Moines, IA 50320.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Bubba.
