Velva Darlene Palm, 83, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2022, in Knoxville, Iowa. She was surrounded by her loving family.

“Darlene” was born on July 31, 1939, in Iowa City, Iowa, to Vernon Wearmouth and Myra Valentine Wearmouth Rankin Visser. She had ten brothers and sisters and graduated from Monroe Community High School in 1957. Darlene married Arnold J. Palm on February 18, 1966, in Des Moines. She was a homemaker, Avon sales lady, and retired switchboard operator at Broadlawns Medical Center. She was a member of Royal Neighbors of America and the American Legion Auxiliary in Bondurant.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Steve (Pam) Palm of Grimes, Cathy Presley of Pleasant Hill, and Christy Robb of Pleasant Hill, her grandchildren Derrick, Ryley, and Preston Palm, Christine and Nick Presley, and Brandon and Zach Feldt, and Aidan Robb, her brother Gerald Rankin and sister Margaret Ball, and many in-laws, nieces & nephews, and extended family & friends. Preceding her in death were her husband, her parents and nine of her siblings.

Visitation will be held from 12-2 p.m. with her Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 11, 2022, at Ss. John and Paul Catholic Church, 1401 1st Avenue South, in Altoona. There will be a light meal immediately after the service.
