Phyllis Renteria

Phyllis Renteria, 82, passed away on May 4, 2023 at Luther Park in Des Moines. She was born in West Des Moines on November 6, 1940, daughter of Harold and Vera (Mendenhall) Kibbe.

Phyllis retired from Northwestern Bell Telephone after 27 years in 1984. Her and Robert would have celebrated 63 years of marriage on May 27th. Phyllis loved to play card games and listened to all genres of music. She was known to visit the Meskwaki Casino in Tama from time to time. Phyllis was larger than life when it came to jewelry and bling. Most of all she loved her family, especially her nieces and nephews. If you asked her family, they would tell you she was a “feisty-ornery” little lady.

Phyllis is survived by her husband, Robert; sisters, Mary Anne Porter and Janet Richey. Along with numerus nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Frances White

Services will take place at 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines. Family will greet friends from 1:00-2:00p.m., prior to services.
