Family Services Symposium: Coping with Grief

After the death of a loved one, it can be a confusing and overwhelming time for many in search for understanding and how to integrate the loss into their lives. When the holidays are thrown into the mix it can be an especially difficult time.

With this in mind, Hamilton's Academy of Grief & Loss offers our Family Services Symposium. Our theme for this Symposium is “Coping with Grief during the Holidays”. Our Academy staff will offer practical suggestions for coping with grief to help adults who have experienced the death of a loved one.

During the workshop portion of our program, guests will be invited to participate in a variety of stations to assist them in starting to plan for the impending holidays and find new ways to incorporate those who have died into holiday traditions. To conclude our time together, a memorial candle lighting will be held in honor of our loved ones.

An important component of the Family Services Symposium is the opportunity for guests to connect with representatives from organizations in our community that provide support services to anyone who has experienced the death of a loved one. They are available to speak with guests and provide information about their support services, as listed in our Community Resource booklet.
