Colby Mann
July 23, 2014
Colby Mann had a great smile; it radiated from the inside out. He was a funny, entertaining guy who made others feel welcome. Colby lived life to its fullest, at full throttle. He enjoyed hanging out with his friends and family and was very humble and down to earth. He had a free spirit, was very motivated and loyal. Colby was family-oriented, loved working with his dad, and was a member of Carpenters Union 106. Still a bit of a kid at heart, Colby loved Star Wars and Batman. On Wednesday, July 23rd, the day DC Comics declared National Batman Day, Colby’s spirit left this earth at age 22.
He will be forever missed by his father, Derek; mother, Robbin; sister, Olivia; girlfriend, Reetzi; grandparents, Connie Dake, Eugene (Olga) Mann, and Emily Mann; and other loving family and friends. He is preceded in death by his grandfather, James Dake.
A celebration of Colby’s life will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Carpenters Union Hall Local 106, 3851 Delaware Avenue in Des Moines. Friends may visit with family one hour prior to services.

Robbin, Derek and Olivia,
I am so sorry for your loss. Colby was an incredible, caring young man. As I held my son in his grief, I could feel the love he had for his bro, Colby. He will be greatly missed, and never forgotten. Know that during this time, you are being held in the hearts of his many friends and their parents.

Colby was my fourth grade student at Perkins. When I heard this sad news today (from other Perkins' teachers), my heart went out to all of his family & friends. When I think of Colby, I remember the curly blond mop of hair, his infectious laugh & cute grin. He loved playing sports at recess and was a good athlete. If we were studying something he cared about...his face would light up & he'd rapid-fire ask questions. He was well-liked by his classmates & teachers. I'm sure he grew up to be a fine young man. Please know that so many of us from Perkins are sending prayers & thoughts to all of you. Unfortunately I'm in Chicago for this next week so I will not be there to express my sympathy.

We are filled with such sadness and bittersweet memories of
the days when our boys were so young and silly. Kyle and Colby had some fun times and Kyle is embracing those times now.
Although your lives are changed forever, you will always have Colby living on in your sweet memories and in your hearts. We have no words to express our sorrow. Deepest sympathy, Andi and Dale Kunert

Every moment spent with Colby was filled with joy and laughter. Colby's laugh was utterly contagious and was always followed by a roar of laughter from friends, who didn't even know why they were laughing besides that Colby was. We are so happy to have called him a close true friend, and are so hurt by his departure. Our condolences to the family, you raised one of our best friends. Thankyou.

Derek, Robbin and Olivia, I remember when Colby was just little and even growing up, his curls and smile I will never forget. Colby was one of the sweetest kids I knew and I know he will live on through Olivia. Thinking of you all and praying for peace.
