Glenn T. "Spike" Harvey

Glenn “Spike” Harvey, 89, passed away September 21, 2011, at Methodist Medical Center.
Glenn was born July 26, 1922, in Des Moines, to Raymond and Merle Harvey in Des Moines. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII on the USS Lexington as a flight deck director. Glenn was an optician and working was his passion, he was still working up to six days a week at Vogue Vision. He had been a member of Grant Park Christian Church since 1932. He loved classical music and enjoyed drawing.
Glenn is survived by his daughter, Cathy (Larry) Swedberg; grandson, Marc Lane; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Helen; and his wife, Kathryn.
 
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, September 26, 2011, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, followed by burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Iowa Jewish Life Center.

I'll sure miss seeing Glen at Vogue! He was "my guy" for many years picking out glasses. I loved his round glasses and his pleasant manner.... he always made me smile.
Sorry to miss Glenn's service on Monday- I'd come in a heart beat, but I'm out of town that day.
