Ira Lee "Shorty" Hubbs

Ira Lee “Shorty” Hubbs, 69, died Wednesday, September 28, 2011, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, October 1, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street, with burial following at the Carlisle Cemetery. A visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Shorty was born August 2, 1942, in Carlisle to June and Roy Hubbs. He was the owner of S & L Lounge in Grand Junction, where he volunteered as a firefighter. He worked as a driver for Iowa Auto Glass Center and Pilkington Glass. Shorty was an avid fisherman, and mushroom hunter. He enjoyed watching auto racing and football and loved spending time with his grandchildren, especially watching their sporting activities.
Shorty is survived by his wife, Sandra; daughter, Tracy (Jim) Steffen; son, Terry King; grandchildren, Kyle Steffen, Shawn (Samantha) King, Jenny Steffen, Jamie Steffen and his German granddaughter, Lisa Stahl.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Shorty.

So sorry to hear that you have lost Lee. I know just what you are going through since I have been through it. God, your family and friends will help you but it is still rough. I wish the best for you and your family.

Sandy, we were so shocked and sorry to hear about Lee. We knew he had been having health problems, but had no idea how serious it was. Please accept our deepest sympathies. We are out of town for a few days so we won't be able to attend the services. Please know that we are thinking of you.
