Robert Hildebrand

Robert “Bob” W. Hildebrand, 71, died Sunday, November 13, 2011 at Bright Kavanagh House from lung cancer. He was born September 11, 1940 to Vern and Viola (Pyle) Hildebrand in Washington, Iowa.
Bob worked as a building maintenance manager for KVI, and EMCO. Previously he worked at Schmitt & Henry where he built many pieces of furniture. He was a member of Ft. Des Moines Church of Christ. Bob enjoyed sports especially NASCAR and football. He enjoyed cooking, talking politics, and fishing.
Bob is survived by his wife of 41 years, Doris; children, Jerry Hildebrand, April Kirby, Shelley (Scott) Stout, and Rodney (Amy) Hildebrand; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson; brothers, Vern Jr. (Cathy), William, Kenneth (Jolene), and James; sister, Barbara (Norman) Visner; and a host of other family and beloved friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Barbara Martin; three brothers; and one sister.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 17, 2011 at Fort Des Moines Church of Christ, 244 E. Army Post Road. Family will greet friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St.

I worked at KVI and saw Bob on a daily basis. I always enjoyed our conversations, and he always knew exactly what was going on. He had a great sense of humor and always made me laugh. May he rest in peace.

We will forever miss Uncle Bob. His laugher, his NASCAR, and his cooking. Many fond memories of cook outs and playing cards and dice games at your dining room table. You will not be forgoten.

Doris & family.. Our deepest condolences to you, in the loss of Bob. Seems, like it hasn't been 5 yrs, since I tranferred memembership to Carlisle Christian Church..But, at least Ron, started back..I've met a few times a year, with a few of the ladies, from the Fort..about 7-8 of us.. Seems, we just don't get it done, often anymore.. to many other appt's..Went to Laura Smothers, 95th, celebration at the church.. .. I remember, you're Mother, she was such a lovely person.. May God be with you all, thru all of this..with Love/thoughts/prayers.. De & Ron Wilbur

Doris & family, I anm very sorry to hear of your loss of your husband & Father,,,I know how it is,,when Gary past away, I sure all of you will find Peace with our Lord, & know that Bob is not suffering anymore,,Bob is with our Lord.
