Phid was born June 26, 1953 and passed away Sunday, January 27, 2013 at age 59.
He is survived by Theresa Lafferty; siblings, Robert Douglas Reed, Lyle “Pat” Reed, Gail Reyhons all of Des Moines and Gary Jinks of Florida; and nine nieces and nephews, and their families.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Central Iowa.

Very few times in my life have I been lucky enough to have a person like phid around. My father passed away when I was 4 and we relocated to Florida to be with family. As a kid I was elated when I learned of the rest of my family coming to Florida. Many weekends we invaded his home to cause a ruckus! how he managed to keep it together with us tearing things apart? I don't know. Through our teen years we were more than a hand full I still remember seeing him sitting on the back of his truck in the sun listening to some music and taking it easy. He brought such a simplicity to our lives that was near impossible in our family. He had a simple way about his life asking for little and giving far more than his share. Thank you for sharing him with us, Thank you for unselfishly sharing him with us and thank you for keeping him in simplicity and love in his passing.

Wow ! Papa one thing i can say is im so glad we spoke an you had forgiven me i wasent the best wife an you were every thing a woman could want in a husband an more. you were a great father to Jeff an Sarah an a awsome grandpapa to Amillion,Mesiah,Samarah i know you told me while you were in the Hospital you will allways love me all i got to say is i will forever love you i just wish i could do my life all over again with you i would never have hurt you like i did im sooooo sorry . i love you an will miss your jokes your laugh you are our Papa see you soon . Uncle Phid, While I did not get a chance to say good bye and we did not chat often, I always asked about you and how you were doing. I am thankful for all the memories I do have of you. I will never forget spending the weekends with you and Aunt Lu and the big breakfast that we had in the mornings. I will always keep you near and dear to me and I hope you are at peace.
