Harold Kingsley, Jr., 68, passed away Monday May 6, 2013 at VA Central Iowa Health Care in Des Moines. He was born July 31, 1944 to Harold and Henrietta Kingsley in Rockford, Illinois.
Harold retired from the US Army after 20 years of service. He served one tour in Vietnam, three tours in Germany, and many posts across the United States. After he retired in 1983, he repaired and serviced equipment for Hammer Medical Supply. He also enjoyed being a handyman of sorts where he would work on sprinkler systems and privacy fences.
Harold always enjoyed traveling and his later years, spent much of his time reuniting with friends.
Harold is survived by his children, Angie (Rich) Pettinger and Bill (Lisa) Kingsley; grandchildren, Craig, Courtney, and Conner Pettinger and Sarah Kingsley; brother, Harry (Linda) Kingsley; Lisa’s daughter, Jasmine Bell; and many friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Karen in 2001; parents; sister, Ginger Kann; and half-sister, Vivian Conti.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, May 10, 2013 at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Ave. SW, with burial to follow at Altoona Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Angie, I'm very sorry at the loss of your mom and dad. They were very nice to me in Wiesbaden and Weston. if i had known of their passing i would have flown out to pay my respects. Remember when i first met your dad ? he was picking you up from your first day at the legal center The next day. i asked you if he was mad that i was speaking to his daughter
every one of your family i met treated me good. could you also please give my condolences to your brother Bill and your Uncle Harry.
