Nello O. Stefani, 90, passed away October 20, 2014, surrounded by his loving family.
Nello Oliver Stefani was born on January 6, 1924 in Ankeny, Iowa to Pete and Mary (Giannasi) Stefani. He served in the United States Marine Corp in the South Pacific during World War II. Nello married the love of his life, Genevieve (Sassatelli) on September 2, 1950 and together they raised seven children.
Nello retired from John Deere, and previous to that held various positions with Canada Dry and Coca Cola Bottling Company. He was a long time member of the Vittoria Lodge and was a member of Ss. John and Paul Parish in Altoona. Everyone that was blessed to have known Nello knew him as a generous, caring and hard-working family man with incredible integrity.
Nello is survived by his wife of 64 years, Genevieve (Jenny) Stefani; his six children, Steph (Ed) Green, Dave (Deanna) Stefani, Bob (Sheila) Stefani, Patty (Mike) Richardson, John (Diane) Stefani and Doug (Christine) Stefani; 15 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He was proceeded in death by his son, Stephen Craig; daughter Laura Ann Stefani-Wharff; parents and two brothers.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:00am, Friday, October 24, 2014 at Ss. John d Paul Parish, 1401 1st Ave. S., in Altoona. Burial to follow at Altoona Cemetery. Visitation will occur Thursday evening at the church form 4:00-7:00 pm, with a vigil service to be held at 7:00pm.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Ss. John and Paul Parish or Food for the Poor in loving memory of Nello.

Stefani family-I am so sorry about Nello. He was an amazing man in more ways than one. I'm thankful to have known him (and the entire Stefani family) for the short amount of time that I did. All of you are such sweet, caring people. Nello will definitely be missed by so many. He didn't know a stranger! Love, prayers, and comfort to all of you!

John, Patty, & all of the Stefani family, Nello was a wonderful person and will be dearly missed! I had the pleasure of knowing Nello back when John & I were in school together. Always enjoyed talking with him and listening to his great stories!

Nello will be greatly missed. I loved chatting with him (and Jenny) when they stopped in to Walgreens. He loved BitOHoney and sharing it with his family. We always had great conversations. God bless his loved ones.
