Gary G. Grandstaff

Gary G. Grandstaff, 76, passed away November 21, 2014 at Methodist Medical Center. He was born November 11, 1938 to Lula (Burget) and Orville Grandstaff in Des Moines.

He graduated from Des Moines Tech and attended Grandview College. From a young age Gary had a passion for adventure, and was a career pilot. His career made it possible for him to travel extensively around the world.

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Lola; daughters, Cindi (Tony) Lee and Cheri Edwards; grandchildren, Jeff (Shannon) Lee, Heather (Ty) Russell and Shelby Mills; great-grandchild, Shyanne Lee; siblings, Maxine Willits and Barbara (Mark) Adamson.

Gary is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Lloyd Grandstaff.

A celebration of Gary’s life will be held at 3 p.m., Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW in Altoona. Visitation will be held the evening before from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will occur directly following the service at Altoona Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be directed toward the Animal Rescue League of Iowa in loving memory of Gary.
