Gail Imogene Ogden passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, April 13, 2015, at Fountain West Care Center. She was 90 years old. A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 20, 2015 at 4:30 p.m. at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway with visitation at 3:30 p.m.

Gail was born in Monongalia County, West Virginia on September 25, 1924. She was the daughter of Ella Dobbins and Monzel Haller. Her childhood was spent in Akron, Ohio and she graduated in 1943 from Kenmore High School in Akron. Gail spent many years in the Midwest, and retired to West Des Moines in 2004. Throughout her life, Gail worked in several clerical, accounting, and hospitality jobs and in several volunteer roles. She was always a hard worker and was known for her ready smile and teasing personality. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, shopping, movies, and restaurants. She also took many self-improvement classes including art and word-processing in her later years. Gail spent the last several years of her life enjoying the companionship of her friends at the Polk County Westside Community Center. She greatly appreciated the transportation services provided by the West Des Moines Human Services Department which allowed her to remain independent for more than ten years after she was unable to drive herself.

Gail is survived by four sons, David (Nell) Latham of Simpsonville, South Carolina, Bruce (Barbara) Probst of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Dennis (Wendy) Ogden, of West Des Moines, and Adam (Pam) Ogden, of Lexington, Kentucky; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her great-grandson, Frankie Ogden.
