Peg Norton

Peg Norton, 78, passed away Monday, August 24, 2015 at HCI Care Services Bright Kavanagh House.
Peg was born December 16, 1936 in Marengo, Iowa to Ralph and Margaret (Naughton) Wandling. She graduated from Marengo High School in 1955 and in 1957, received her teaching certificate from Ottumwa Heights. Peg was united in marriage to Frank Norton on Flag Day, June 14, 1958. They were blessed with six children. Peg taught school for several years at various schools, retiring from Carlisle Schools after 21 years of service. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, sewing and quilting.
Peg is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Frank; children, Pam Snyder, Paula (Mark) Caskey, Pat (Karen) Norton and Todd Norton; grandchildren, Donny, Rick and Betsy Snyder, A.J., Parker and Bailey Caskey, Jaret, Brady and Alaina Norton and Nash Norton; great-grandchildren, Jordyn and Bentlee Snyder and Ali Snyder; sisters, Kathleen Fahey and Lucy Dietrich; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; children, Tom Norton and Theresa Norton; and her sister, Mickey Hanson.
The family will greet friends Wednesday, August 26, 2015 from 5 to 7 p.m. with the Rosary recited at 7 p.m. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 27th at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, 2566 Scotch Ridge Road in Carlisle. Peg will be laid to rest at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Calvary Cemetery in Marengo, Iowa.

WOw my heart sank today when I opened up The Carlisle citizen and saw Peg's obituary..all day long I just couldn't get her off my mind...truly a lady with a heart of gold..I'm so happy I got to visit with her for a while at her house about a year ago

My sincere sympathy to you Frank, and your family. Peg was the one who made my red cape for Honor Guard. I now wear white but my son-in-law has made use of it. My wife Rosie and I remember you and Peg very well. God bless you and your family at this time.

Prayers to you , Frank, and family in your loss. I will always remember Peg and all the craft sales that we were in together at the church. She is at peace now and our prayers are with her.
