Marsha Van Genderen
August 28, 2015
On August 28, 2015, Marsha defeated cancer and went home to live with her savior. She is temporarily apart from her husband, Jeff, and their children - Joshua, Alyssa, Jakob and Trent and Paula along with granddaughter Zoe.
On August 16, 1963, Marsha was born in Emmetsburg, IA to Phil and Ann Stillman. Marsha has a brother Mark and two sisters Michelle (Stillman)Kogel and Maria (Stillman) Hertel.
Marsha’s best friends and sisters in Christ- Sammi Fulmer and Heidi Mcgregor - will be missed until reunited on that glorious day when they will walk the beach hand in hand.
Marsha has dedicated much time and love to her Crossway family. She was very welcoming in greeting guests at the welcome table and at ladies discipleship classes. She studied hard to become a follower of Christ and made many meals for their Friday Night Life Group.
Marsha loved life and enjoyed many activities such as reading and baking. But her favorite activity was traveling. Throughout her marriage many family vacations were taken but her favorite was cruising. Marsha loved the Caribbean Sea with its warm breezes, the beautiful Larimar stones and colorful fish.
To honor Marsha she invites you to wear your casual vacation clothes to celebrate her past and future life.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 30 between the hours of 5 – 7 p.m. at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines, IA 50309. Celebration of life will be held Monday, August 31 at 11 a.m. at Lutheran Church of the Cross, 1701 8th St. SW, Altoona, IA 50009. There will be a graveside service immediately after Celebration of life at Altoona Cemetery. Lunch will be provided after graveside service at approximately 12:30 p.m. at Lutheran Church of the Cross - Cross Creek Building (Just west of the church), 1975 8th St SW, Altoona, IA 50009.

Marsha you were a friend I could connect with whether we had just seen each other or it had been years. You were special and I know how much you loved being a Mom. It was an honor being your friend
