Rachel Pray went home to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday, October 10, 2015.
Rachel was born August 28, 1936 in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Jose and Eva (Reese) Barajas. She was a warm and giving person who was well known and loved throughout the Garton School district through her job as the Food Service Coordinator. She was awarded a commendation by Governor Chet Culver for her compassionate care of the students. Rachel loved spending time with her family and enjoyed hosting get-togethers. She was a mother to everyone, taking care of and feeding the whole family. Even after her sons were grown, they continued to have family dinners each week.
Rachel is survived by her sons, Roy L. (Deborah) Pray II, Joseph Pray, and John LaPrei; grandchildren, Josh (Shantel) Pray, Jason (Nicole) Pray, Ryan (Sarah) Pray, Larissa (Megan) Pray, Joseph (Bethany) Pray, Jacob (Anna) Pray, Maria (Jacob) Munoz, John Pray, Aaron Pray, and Noah LaPrei; great-grandchildren, Joplin, Jase, Jade, Tiana, Lily, Madeline, Sophia, Zane, Kaylen, Kiya, and Maddox; step-great-grandchildren, Seleena, Sabrina, Shelby, J.T., Justice, Sophia, Robbie, Colin, and Tyler; her sister, Betty Nicoli; and numerous nieces and nephews and many other loving relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Roy L. Pray; her parents, Jose and Eva Barajas; her mother-in-law, Elizabeth Martin; sisters, Ruth, Mary, Marge, and Josephine; and her brother, Bud.
There will be a Visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., with a Rosary Service at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, October 15, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 3300 Easton Blvd., Des Moines. Mass of Christian Burial will occur at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 16, also at the church, followed by interment at Glendale Cemetery.

My thoughts and prayers to all, the memories I have I will forever cherish. I hope for peace and closure for everyone. Rachel was one of the most honest and giving people I have ever known and I will miss her dearly.

I am so sorry to hear about racheal. I did her hair for awhile years ago and i remember how sweet and giving she was. Sounds like she was that way to everyone. I will keep your family in my prayers you have a lot of sorrow ahead of you.

Our hearts goes out to the whole family, Rachel was a very sweet lady, and very much loved by many people I always thought it was wonderful that her family was so close & loving. She was always warm and inviting to all people. Her family is in our prayers Connie Haskell & Kenny Bevard.
