James Kalny

James John Kalny, 79, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2016. Jim was born May 22, 1936 in Des Moines and was a graduate of Roosevelt High School and Drake University. He always looked out for the welfare of others and was blessed with a wonderful sense of humor.

He will be greatly missed by his wife, JoAn Kalny; sons, Jim (Kathleen) and Ben (Valerie); step-sons, Mark (Kathy), Jon (Chris), Jim (Toni) and Joe (Julie) Coy; 18 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Ann Desing and Betty Jo Marshall. Jim was preceded in death by his first wife, Janet (Holliday) Kalny; and his parents, James and Edith Kalny.

Church Service will be held Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at 4:30 p.m. at Mount Olive Lutheran Church and School, 5625 Franklin Ave in Des Moines, IA. with a Celebration of Life following starting at 5:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall.
