LeRoy Franklin Moody of Ankeny, Iowa, died April 30, 2016, at age 84, surrounded by family. LeRoy was born August 4, 1931, to Anne and LeRoy Moody. He was united in marriage to Fern Hale on July 8, 1951. Through this union were born a son, Rickey and a daughter, Deborah.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 6, 2016, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines, with visitation to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday evening at the funeral home from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
LeRoy served in the US Navy. He retired from the US Post Office and DM Postal Credit Union.
LeRoy and Fern loved fishing, camping, and family. For years, they enjoyed wintering in the South and belonging to an extended family of other snowbirds. Family was everything to LeRoy.
LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, and son, Rick Moody. He is survived by his wife, Fern Moody; daughter, Debbie (Mike) Whittie; daughter-in-law, Pam Moody; 7 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
He will forever be remembered for his loving spirit, his infectious laugh, his teasing mannerisms and his zest for life. He never met a stranger!
In lieu of flowers, we would welcome memorial contributions be made to Mill-Pond Retirement Community in Ankeny, Iowa in his memory.

We are so blessed that the Moody families are in our lives as the greatest friends from God. We will always cherish the camping and Ozark memories. Hugs to you Fern and your entire family!

Our thoughts and prayers are with Fern and her family. We worked with Leroy for many years at the Post Office. He was always a pleasure to be around, he will truly be missed.
