May 16, 2016
Charles “Chuck” Biggart, Jr. 56, passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at Mercy Medical Center.
Chuck was born October 8, 1959 in Des Moines to Charles and Susan (Shank) Biggart, Sr. He graduated from YJB High School in Jamaica, Iowa. Chuck was a truck driver for Airgas. He had a great sense of humor, he took pride in everything he did and was a very selfless man. Chuck loved his family and enjoyed every minute with them. Whether it was coaching his son’s baseball team, his daughter’s softball team or anxiously awaiting the next dance recital, he was always there to support them and cheer them on. Chuck obtained his pilot’s license several years ago and enjoyed flying. He also loved to golf, fly remote controlled airplanes, help run the fog machine at ISU home games and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan.
Chuck is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Joni; children, Justin (Michaela) Biggart and Mackenzie (fiancé, Christopher Cox) Biggart; his beloved granddaughter, Ellie; mother, Susan Biggart; siblings, Doug (Terri) Biggart; and Shelly (Gary) Thompson; sister-in-law, Tammy Biggart; and a host of extended family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Sr. and his brother, Jim.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 20th at the funeral home followed by burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

I am so sorry for your loss. I haven't seen him in so long. What I remember most is when they came to visit and we all swam in the little pool. A few years ago. You will all be in my prayers. Take care.

I had the pleasure of working with Chuck when he would pull cylinder loads from Ankeny to Davenport. He was such a kind soul and truly one of the "good guys". I remember vividly the day his granddaughter was to arrive, he was anxious, elated, but most of all, proud. I will remember Chuck fondly, and wish all of his family peace during this most difficult time.
