Lupo family,
I don't even know where to begin. I just saw this. I'm so heart broken. Keith, as I knew him, was my best friend in the world growing up. So many weekends back and forth at each other's houses as kids, spending the night, reading X-Men comic books and watching him put together one of the most detailed superhero drawings I'd ever seen at that age. I remember him drawing his own superhero, made up from the mind of Keith Lupo and I was blown away every time!
Within him beat the heart of a superhero. Someone who could so easily connect with his favorite character then somehow transform into that person like it was second nature. I remember a couple of instances where he came bounding down the steps at my house one night during a sleepover and lunged into the air on the last step only to nail is noggin on an overhang above the last step taking pieces of plaster down with him as he hit the ground! He literally jumped back up, brushed off the debris and walked into the family room like nothing had even happened! It felt like watching the Incredible Hulk in action! That was Keith. Another time he was riding my Evil Knievel dirt bike and misjudged a ramp that we had built near the edge of our garage, and the handlebar hit the garage spinning him off of the bike in all direction until he skidded onto the ground. Once again, he rolled around for a minute, got back up, picked up the bike and went to try it again! He was fearless and unstoppable as a kid. and so much fun. And let's not mention his crush on Olivia Newton John! Wow.
I only found out about this because I was doing on a search for friends I had grown up with and stumbled upon this. I've been gone from Iowa for some time and have only been back a few years and had I known this happened, I would have been there for the Lupo family.
My last memory of Keith was years ago, when I had connected with another friend to go to a buddy's house to hang out and who should happen to be there? Keith Lupo! I think he was playing a D&D game, but it was so long ago, I don't really remember.
Please accept my heartfelt condolences, and if anyone in the family should happen to see this, please reach out to me at leaspauly@gmail.com. God bless you all.

I first was introduced to James Keith Lupo when we attended Woodlawn elementary school way back in the 3rd grade. Even back then James was into action figures & drawings, art. I remember being invited to his house where he proudly showed me his collection of Star Wars figures.
I didn't see James again until 2009 when I was able to find him via the internet. We reconnected after over thirty years apart & enjoyed hanging out & catching up about class & schoolmates in Boone, IA.
I miss my friend because he was kind, outgoing, & had a wonderful human spirit. He enjoyed the simple things in life. His favorites were Casey's Taco Pizza & Tasty Tacos. My last memory of him was just hanging out & watching the Super Bowl & the commercials this year while enjoying a Casey's Taco Pizza.
To his parents, brother Brian & his family of friends I am deeply sorry for your loss. The world is emptier now, but God has called home one of his angels to create new beauty in paradise.
James Keith Lupo until we meet again in Heaven. Goodbye my friend & R.I.P.
Sincerely,
Benjamin R. Schempp

I am so sorry to hear Keith has passed. A fine man and artist. Being another kid from Valdez, I remember walking to school with him and stopping to say hello when I cut through your yard to Valdez Court. I am praying for all of you in such a difficult time.
Sincerely,
