Jimmy Lee Fetters, Sr.

Jimmy Lee Fetters, Sr., age 65, passed away at his home on Saturday, March 23, 2019.

Jimmy was born May 22, 1953 in Des Moines, Iowa to Meldon and Betty (Ross) Fetters. He graduated from East High School in Des Moines and worked for Lewis System Security. Jimmy loved fishing and working on cars. He was a talented handy-man and could fix anything. He enjoyed square dancing and line dancing with his nieces when he was younger. He was a Green Bay Packers fan and especially enjoyed watching the games with Jimmy II. Jimmy will be lovingly remembered as a funny, stubborn, and ornery guy. If he didn’t give you a hard time, he didn’t like you.

He is survived by his son, Jimmy Lee Fetters II; siblings, Sally Herrick Haas of Millford, IA, Lois Sears Hejkal of Yuma, AZ, William Fetters of Bayard, IA, Edith Southwick of Des Moines, IA, Ellen Fetters of Bayard, IA, Lillian Fetters of Des Moines, IA, Meldon Fetters, Jr. of Des Moines, IA; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Meldon and Betty Fetters and his uncle, Jerry Fetters.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m., with funeral service at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, March 28, 2019 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines.
