Mark Sales

Mark Sales, age 64, passed away Saturday, August 24, 2019 at his home in Des Moines.

Mark was born April 19, 1955 in Des Moines, Iowa to William and Gladys Sales. He had three sisters, two brothers, and one half-sister. He was the baby of the family. Mark graduated from Adel DeSoto High School in 1973, and began his career in auto body repair just after high school. Mark had a passion for music. He played the drums for such bands as Boothill Band, Unforgiven, Whiskey Mountain, and Desert Rose. He played locally in Des Moines, but also had the opportunity to travel as a drummer.

Mark met Sheri Slaughter in high school and they married in 1976. They welcomed sons Matt in 1983 and Eric in 1989. Mark and Sheri were also blessed with one granddaughter, Lilianne. He loved spending time with his family and his friends. He was an avid car lover, especially 1970 Pontiac Firebirds.

He is survived by his wife, Sheri Sales; sons, Matt and Eric (Chelsea), both of Des Moines; granddaughter, Lilianne; sisters, Joyce (Gary) Shoeman and Janelle (Leroy) Tassin; brother, Steve (Chris) Sales; half-sister, Pam Riley; and many nieces and nephews.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, William and Gladys Sales; brother, William Sales; sister, Sandi Sanford; and his mother-in-law, Janet Swigert.

According to Mark’s wishes, cremation will occur and there will be no services held at this time.
