Glenn L. Smith passed away peacefully at home on September 30th, 2019. Glenn is survived by his wife – Beverly; 3 children(spouses) – Jeff Smith (Tomoko), Jenny Russell (David), and Emily Smith; 5 grandchildren – McKenna, Claire, Teddy, Julia, and Johnny; grand dog (Cleo); brother(in-laws) – Jerry Smith (Bud Bellis and Dick Dyer); and 26 nieces/nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents – Ray and Bernice Smith; 6 siblings(spouses) – Ray Smith (Ellen), Betty Dyer, Jack Smith (Pat), Beverly Wade (Dick), (Becky), Joy Bellis, Paul Smith; and 2 nephews.
Glenn was a lawyer in the Finley Law firm for 49 years. He was active in supporting democratic politics and Planned Parenthood. As one of the youngest of eight siblings he had great love for family and always made himself available to those who needed him. He especially enjoyed spoiling his 5 grandchildren. Glenn liked music and musicals, cooking, and a good family card game. You could often see him singing a favorite song, drinking a cold root beer, or taking an evening walk. He was fond of family travel and was fortunate to enjoy his last family trip to Yellowstone with his wife, children(spouses), and grandchildren this past summer.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the East High School Alumni Scholarship Fund or Planned Parenthood of the Heartland.
A memorial celebration of life, with a time of sharing, will be held on December 28, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at Plymouth Church. Inurnment will be at Highland Memory Garden’s following the celebration of life. .

Goodbye Uncle Mick. You will be missed. by all of us. Thank you for your kindness and generous spirit to us whenever we came to Des Moines, and for your wise counsel when Ray and Ellen passed. Rest now in the Father's arms.

I am so sorry to hear of Glenn's passing. I enjoyed our many conversations at gatherings. He told wonderful stories and had a great sense of humor. My condolences to the entire family.
