Todd Joseph Rauch
June 18, 2009
Todd J. Rauch, 28, passed away June 18, 2009, due to complications following a bone marrow transplant at the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC), Baltimore, MD.
Todd was born December 5, 1980 in Des Moines, IA to Allan Rauch and Carmi (Nigro) Rauch. He graduated from Urbandale high School in 1999 and DMACC in 2003.
Todd was a good all-around athlete, participating in football, basketball, track and baseball. He also played tennis and was a strong swimmer. The teams he contributed to were almost always champions and he played in the State Basketball Tournament in 1998 and in the football play-offs in 1997 & 1998.
In 2004 Todd enlisted in the Air Force, and while serving in Germany met Lindsay A. Fox. Todd & Lindsay were married in December 2005. Also, in 2005, Todd was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, culminating in the transplant procedure in December of 2008. Todd waged a determined, courageous and heroic battle against his illness.
Todd was a sports fan, a TRUE Iowa Hawkeye and a fan of the Miami Dolphins and Los Angeles Dodgers. Also, he was a big fan of sprint car racing, boxing and college wrestling. He enjoyed weight lifting/working out, video games, music, reading and food, but most of all he enjoyed his family and was a good and loving husband, son, brother and uncle. Also, he was a loyal friend.
At long last, Todd achieved his potential as a student (3.8 GPA) and was close to his four year degree in business administration at the University of Maryland.
A SPECIAL THANKS to Dr. Rapoport and the staff at the BMT Unit at UMMC. Their hard work, dedication and caring was far beyond the call of duty.
While the loss to Todd’s family is immeasurable, the real loss is that the rest of the world will not get to know and experience what a truly fine and good adult he had become.
Todd is survived by his loving wife; parents; brother, Chris (Kristin) Silver of Ankeny; sister, Angie (Joe) Chrismore of Urbandale; nieces and nephews, Stefan and Lindsay Adams, Kelly and Spencer Silver and Baylee and Spencer Chrismore; and his family cat, “Furry”.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, Hope Lodge Baltimore, 636 W. Lexington St., Baltimore, MD 21201 or the Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults, 10440 Little Patuxent Pkwy, Ste. 1G, Columbia, MD 21044.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 26, 2009 at Hamilton's on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Pkwy. with private burial to follow. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Man I really miss my buddy! Going through old pictures of the DHS/Urbandale group in the day. I know you knew how special our bond was and I’m so proud of who you became. I even became a nurse after you passed away. You inspired me to follow my past just like we had talked about. I drive by your spot at the cemetery when I go to visit my dad just to say hi. I wish I could tell you about all the things that have happened since you left. I know we’d still have been friends all these years later. We made it buddy. Friends forever to my brother.
