Nathan Jonas Jordison (Joey)
July 26, 2021
Nathan Jonas Jordison (Joey) passed away peacefully in his sleep on
July 26, 2021 at the age of 46.
Joey was born on April 26, 1975 in Des Moines Iowa and grew up in Waukee, Iowa with his father, Steve Jordison, his mother, Jackie and two younger sisters, Katie (Shaun) and Annie (Chris).
Joey's love for music was evident at an early age and he was given his first drum set when he was eight years old. Joey performed in many bands as a teen-ager and in 1995 co-founded the band that would later become known as "Slipknot". Over the years Joey spearheaded even more bands, worked as a producer and performed session work as both a drummer and guitarist. His uncompromised talents would later lead to multiple platinum records and a Grammy Award with "Slipknot" in 2005.
Joey's accomplishments as a musician are undeniable, but his family and friends remember him best for his giving heart and his sharp, satirical sense of humor. He loved to make people laugh, but got the biggest "kick" out of laughing at himself.
Joey fought several health issues for many years and truly sought God's help during his struggles. In the end, it was He who decided Joey had finally struggled long enough and peacefully brought him home.
Joey is survived by his parents, sisters, brother, Lukas Jordison, three nephews (Jonas, Jude, Levin) and a niece (Annella), a grandmother (Kay Williams) and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Family and friends will celebrate Joey's precious life privately.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation in Joey's name be made to Music Minds Matter or Animal Rescue League of Iowa.

Rest easy Joey
You have been a big part of my life, from the age of 3 you inspired me to play drums and play metal fast. My first ever drum beat was a slipknot drum beat.
Rest easy man!!!

Im at a loss for words and I still cant believe that youre gone Joey. These unbearable news hit me like a train and I cant bring myself to believe that you are no longer here. You were the very first drummer I ever heard, my very first influence, and the reason why I picked up my first pair of drumsticks. Thank you so much for all of the music you blessed us all with. My deepest and most heartfelt condolences go out to your family and friends. Rest easy brother and please watch over all of us as we continue to keep your spirit alive.

r.i.p. joey you are greatly missed. My heart is broken i remember seeing slipknot at the ozzfest 99 at San Antonio. And I was blown away by the energy when you guys were playing i was hooked and became a huge fan i bought the v.h.s. tape called welcome to our neighborhood i took it to my job when I was working at McDonald's. And told everyone at work that slipknot was going to be huge everyone thought I was crazy the only one that believed me was my boss. And I would listen to slipknot everyday at school and wored slipknot shirts at school everyone would give me dirty looks because of that but I didn't care what they thought about my shirt. I would tell them dont judge me slipknot is my band. And I would like to say thank you joey for all the memories. And your awesome drumming

#1. You are the reason I got into music. That compilation you did with Road Runner back in the 2000's was the album that opened my eyes to metal, and its beautiful people. You were a childhood hero of mine, and my heart hurts. My deepest, heartfelt condolences to your family and friends. Rest in Peace #1. You will never be forgotten.🤘
