Brian "Scott" Goheen
January 27, 2022
Legend has it, Brian “Scott” Goheen was born on July 21, 1966, while his parents were on vacation in Canada. Scott grew up in Norwalk, the oldest of four children. He graduated from Norwalk High School in 1985 and went on to attend Northwest Missouri State in Maryville. Scott was an outstanding athlete in high school and was a member of the 1982 state baseball championship team. Scott loved participating in all sports, in person and by shouting at the television. He was an avid golfer and relished his standing Saturday tee time at Legacy Golf Course with a great group of friends. A life-long Cubs fan, he was thrilled with the Cubs’ 2016 World Series domination over the Indians. Go Cubs Go! Scott also favored the Cyclones, Cowboys and Royals.
Scott married Julia Goheen (McKee) in 1995 in Norwalk. Scott and Julia were blessed with an amazing daughter, Sabrina Grace. They resided just outside Indianola. Scott loved attending Sabrina’s activities and spent many hours working with her on various skills. Scott was our big, strong man and could fix anything. He always had the right tool and combination of #@!%$ words to complete the task. He was the most generous person and always willing to help. His favorite past time since moving to Indianola was mowing and breaking his previous mowing record. If you knew Scott, you also knew about his mower.
Scott was employed by Rist & Associates as a project manager. Many may not know what Scott’s job was because he loved it enough to never complain about it!
Scott passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 27, 2022.
Scott will be greatly missed by his immediate and extended family and a group of amazing friends. Scott is survived by his wife, Julia, and their daughter, Sabrina; his brothers: Brad Goheen (Karie) and Brent Goheen (Becki Brommel) and his beloved little sister, Shannon Fetters (Shane); father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charles and Deanna McKee; brother-in-law, Phillip McKee (Susie); sister-in-law, Paula Reyhons (Jay); and nieces and nephews, Jessica McKee, Brooke McKee, Logan Goheen, Drake Fetters, Sydney Goheen, Delaney Fetters and Collin Reyhons; and many extended family members. Scott is preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Mary Jo Goheen.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Legacy Golf Course in Norwalk on Thursday, February 3rd, beginning at 3:00 p.m. Beer and other refreshments will be provided. Dinner will be served from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Please dress in support of your favorite sports team or casual golf attire.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorials to Pink Tractor Foundation or The Miracle League.

Julia & Sabrina: A sincere thank you for sharing Scott with us. As you know, after a remodel at Rist I ended up in an office between SG and one son of mine. I discovered that both appreciated sometimes a bit risque emails etc. I would no more than hit "send" than hear Scott chuckling next door and furiously typing a response! They were classic as well. All of that and he was an absolute perfect employee for 17 years, plus was able to troubleshoot our HVAC unit! We will always miss him...

There are no words that can provide enough comfort to you all right now, Julia, Sabrina and family, so we hope cherished memories will help ease the pain, even if just a little. We loved Scott and his big heart and big voice. Always willing to pitch in for Monster Ball. He always wanted everyone around him to be happy and having a good time. He will be dearly missed by us and our big Guppie family.
