Ted Elings

Ted Alan Elings 71, went to be with our Lord on October 27, 2009. Ted lost his battle with emphysema due to a stomach aneurysm. Ted was born on December 24, 1937, in Des Moines, Iowa to John Harold and Dorothy Smith Elings. On November 24, 1961, he married Judith Klingaman.

Ted was a self employed painting contractor for 40 years in the Des Moines area.

Ted is survived by his wife, Judy; a daughter, Cathleen Elings; a grandson Ted Stoyke; sisters, Eileen Elings, Carol Gibson, Joyce Rossmanith; brothers, Gary and Larry Elings; many nieces and nephews. Ted was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Fred, Jim, Don and Gail; two sisters, Doris and Nola.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 2, 2009, at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa. Burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery. A visitation with the family present will be from 5-7 p.m., Sunday, November 1, 2009, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association in loving memory of Ted.
