Ellen L. Johnson, 71, died Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She was born August 16, 1938 in Des Moines, Iowa to Clara Ola and James Harrison Burt.
She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, attending ball games, camping, making jewelry, fishing, and spending time with friends.
Ellen is survived by her husband, Darryl Johnson; daughters, Kelly (Ric) Weidner and Kari (Dave) Middleton; three grandchildren, Jamie Pottinger, Wyatt Johnson, and Payton Johnson; and her loving dog, Lizzie.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Paul and Don; and her sister, Pauline.
Memorial services will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines, with burial of cremated remains to follow at Union Cemetery in Polk City. A visitation with the family present will be from 5-7 p.m., Monday, April 12, 2010 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Ovarian Cancer Research or Mercy Hospice in Johnston in loving memory of Ellen.

Darryl,
We are so sorry to read of Ellen's passing. She fought a good fight and was very brave. We know how much you and your family will miss her, but she is enjoying her new life with Jesus. Please know we are thinking of all of you and praying for Ellen.
