I graduated with Brett from Central College, and we performed our Junior Recital together. I just saw that Brett had passed. I am so sorry to see this. Brett was always a lot of fun to be around, and I'm sure he is having fun now and his spirit will be with us always.
I hope you receive this message. Sorry for it's lateness.

We had three sons go through Mr. Hall's band program at Newton High School. He challenged each of them to reach their music potential and beyond. He was an inspiration to each one in their own way. His family has our sympathy as he touched many lives of youth and young adults and this will live on through them.

To family and friends of Brett I am deeply sorry for your loss.
Brett taught me to play the saxophone 20 years ago, he instilled in me a confidence not just in music but in life in general. He made me feel that if I could learn an instrument I could do anything.
I don't think I've seen him since 8th grade, but I remember vividly his spirit and his sense of humor.
He will be missed!

I am so honored to have been one of Brett's students at NHS. He had such a great way of inspiring young people to be the best they could possibly be...I think he believed in my talents more than I ever did. I will always remember the lessons he taught...It was so much more than "band practice" to us. I am so saddened by this loss and pray for you to be comforted in all the great memories. --Suzi, NHS class of '98

My daughter, Danielle Currier, was a member of the Newton High School band and color guard from 1996 - 2000. I was on the band board as well as helping the color guard with hair, make-up, and anything else that was needed for competitions. I was also a chaperone for the D.C. trip. I admired Brett for his enthusiasm, his talent, and what he was able to make the kids see in themselves what they could accomplish. He will be greatly missed. What a blessing his talents were and that he shared them! Chris is a great lady and I know she will miss Brett greatly. My prayers to all Brett's family at this difficult time.

we were certainly surprised and saddened when we heard of Brett's passing. We remember how special he was in newton and especially as he related to our grandchildren...not only was he an inspiration to us, but to Adam and Alisha he inspired them to do their best and to enjoy music. Chris, we remember and enjoyed our visits with you on many occasions. You may not know that Adam lost his life in a car accident a little over 2 years ago. The family have established a music scholarship at the high school in Adam's memory. It is our hope to keep this for many years. Brett appreciated Adam and was one of the persons responsible for Adam using his talent well after high school.
We send our deepest sympathy to you, Chris, and all of his family and friends.
We'll be thinking of you on Saturday.

I just wanted to tell you how saddened by this I am. I had the immense pleasure of being on of Mr. Hall's students in Newton. Although We didn't always see eye-to-eye, I respected him very much. He was one of my favorite teachers, and I always enjoyed rehersals and other events with him. I only wish I could have told him how much I truly learned from him. I pray for peace and comfort for your family and happier times to come.

Chris, my heart just aches thinking about the roller coaster journey that you & Brett had to take this past month. We all wanted to see him go back into remission so much that it's hard to believe he didn't. He will be so missed by so many. I'm a better person for having had the privilage of knowing Mr. Hall. He taught us so much about music & life. He was lucky to have you watching over him for so much of his young life Chris.
Love & miss you both.
