Kathryn Annette Tolefree

Kathryn Annette Tolefree, age 72, passed away quietly at home in Des Moines on March 30, 2011. She was born on January 18, 1939, in Mason City, Iowa, to Maxine and Arthur Moore.
After Kathryn graduated from Mason City High School in 1957, she relocated to Oakland, California, where she met and married Joseph Tolefree in 1959. To this union two children, Dawn and York were born. She returned to Iowa in 1968, and resided in Des Moines for the last 17 years. She was a retired LPN and caregiver. Kathryn was a gifted violinist and pianist. Among her many hobbies were creating ceramic objects and playing cribbage.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Maxine Moore, and her husband, Joseph Tolefree. She is survived by her children, Dawn T. Narcisse and York Tolefree; grandsons, Johnce and Oscar Tolefree; granddaughters, Perseverance and Integrity Narcise; and three great-grandchildren, all of Des Moines. She also leaves to mourn three sisters, Barbara Coleman in Murietta Springs, California, Virginia DeGree in Houston, Texas, and Colette Brandau in Mason City, Iowa; and many extended family members and friends.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St.

My heart goes out to your family. Arthur Moore lived on the same property as my family and I, RR #3 south of Mason City. He was a great man and I met most of his family. You were all good people, and I'm honored to have met and known your family. ❤️
