Alexander C. Kitterman

Alex Kitterman, 35, passed away Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at his home in Grimes, Iowa after a courageous battle from complications of ALS.

Alex Kitterman was born on January 29, 1990, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, to Ronald and Mary (Noreen) Kitterman. He graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School and Iowa State University where he received his Degree in Electrical Engineering. He was employed by MidAmerican Energy and BHE-R, where he took great pride in promoting green energy—a cause close to his heart.

Alex met the love of his life, KK, at an Iowa-Iowa State tailgate party. They were married on March 23, 2019, and together they built a beautiful life. Alex designed their forever home in Grimes, where they began raising their three children and creating lasting memories as a family.

Alex had a passion for life and a knack for hands-on projects. In his spare time, he enjoyed tackling DIY projects and doing yard work with Kaden, flying drones, and cheering on the Iowa State Cyclones. He especially loved brewing his own beer and watching his nephew Mason play soccer. Family bike rides and time spent at the family lake home in Okoboji were among his favorite memories.
Alex will be remembered for his enthusiasm, his love for family, and his dedication to a more sustainable future.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kathline “KK” Kitterman; children, Kaden (4), Atley (2), and Ellie (3 months); fur-daughter, Pint Kitterman; parents, Ron and Mary Kitterman; sister, Mandy (Mike) McKnight; nephews, Mason and Maddox McKnight; mother and father-in-law, Donna and Chris Perez; aunts and uncles, Gloria and Ken Gibb and Jim and Kathy Kitterman; cousins, John Gibb, Charlotte Gibb, Kirk (Chris) Gibb; nieces, Ana (TJ) Lathrop and Charlie Lathrop; and grandmother-in-law, Judy Overton.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Courtney and Betty Noreen; and paternal grandparents, Ralph and Trudy Kitterman.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, September 14, 2025 at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines, Iowa. Funeral services will take place at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 15 also at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Sunny Hill Cemetery in Grimes, Iowa.
