Anthony Thomas Renda II
June 05, 1961 — May 29, 2025
Anthony Thomas Renda II, 63, passed away May 29, 2025.
He was known as Tim by his family and Tony by many of his friends. Tim was born on June 5, 1961 and grew up on the Southside of Des Moines. He loved his family and was known for his big heart and the kindness he showed to others. He always wanted to give people something to show his love for them, whether it was something he found, a ring he won at bingo, or the piece of cake he got with his lunch.
In his younger years, he loved sports and could hit a baseball like Babe Ruth. He had a passion for photography and had his own dark room where he developed his film into pictures. He was blessed with an artistic ability to draw, and also loved to look at the planets and stars through his telescope. His biggest passion was his love for classic rock music; he always had his handheld radio tuned into KGGO. He was always excited for his weekly visits from family and would often wait by the front door with a big smile on his face, because he knew he would be getting his favorites: Pepsi, black olives, and smokes.
Tim was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Renda; grandparents, Anthony (Toto) and Helen Renda, and Joseph and Agnes Murphy; and his brother-in-law, Frank Keiter.
Tim is survived by his father, Judge Thomas (Sheryl) Renda; siblings, Tammy Keiter, John (Lynette) Renda, and Traci Renda; and many nieces and nephews.
Family will be greeting friends from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home; 5400 SW 9th Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home. Anthony will be laid to rest during a private burial at Glendale Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.

Tammy, I remember Tim vividly as he use to throw garter snakes at me in the garden that your mom and I had…..best tomatoes I ever had!! and canned them too!!! (the tomatoes not the snakes ha ha) But I also remember that.some horrible accident befell Tim which had him in a wheelchair…and home for care to be provided Your Mom use to talk to me about those visits to see him and how he deteriorated thru the years….. It seemed to make her very sad. Was it a motorcycle accident he had many yrs. ago? I would have to pull out letters from your mom that go all the way back to 1976 when I moved to Dallas to remember exactly what happened….I think there was some brain damage…but I think you are on vacation still???? anyway, write me back when you can….. love you, Diana
