Arlis Frye
February 16, 1952 — August 13, 2025
Arlis Marie Frye was born on February 16, 1952, to Arlo and Lois Collingwood in Williamsburg, Iowa. She graduated from Center Point Urbana High School and soon attended beauty school, where she began a career she loved, doing hair for many years.
At the age of 19, Arlis asked Jesus to be her Lord & Savior, a decision that beautifully shaped the rest of her life. While attending Open Bible College, she met the love of her life, Laren Frye, and they were married on June 5, 1976. Together, they welcomed three daughters — Angela Cook, Melinda Frye, and LeAnn (Adan) Johnson — and later a cherished grandson, Bennett.
Arlis taught her family about forgiveness and God’s unconditional love, leaving a priceless legacy of faith that will be treasured by all who knew her. Her heart for people shone through in everything she did, from serving as an elementary Sunday school teacher and worship team member, to pouring God’s love into children as a school aide for Norwalk schools and foster children. She is fondly remembered as being a Mom to many. She was always singing, worshiping her Savior with beautiful harmonies and lending a helping hand to those in need.
Arlis, in all her newness is now rejoicing in the presence of Jesus, reunited with her parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents, sister, and granddaughter. Her life touched countless others, and her love will continue to ripple through the lives she so deeply impacted.
The family will be greeting friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, August 18, 2025 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home; 5400 SW 9th Street, Des Moines. A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at Rock Power Church; 3119 SW 30th Street, Des Moines.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Arlis.

To arlis's dear family... Our list and I graduated from centerpoint together in 1970. I'm so glad she was able to attend our last class reunion. I'm only sorry I didn't get to talk with her more.
I'm sorry for your loss, but I loved her testimony of salvation through Jesus our Lord! I will have to catch up with her in heaven! May God's peace be with all of you as you miss her in the days and months to come months to come.
