Barbara J. Barlow

Barbara “Barby” Jean Barlow was born March 4, 1960, in Des Moines, Iowa to Harvey and Lucille (Moore) Berry. She was a lifelong resident of the Des Moines area. She graduated from East High School and entered the work force in the food service industry. She was employed in the cafeteria at the State Capital prior to her retirement in 2009.

Barbara loved cross-stitch, knitting, and crocheting. She liked doing crosswords and puzzles. In her free time, she would go fishing and bowling, and she was a member of Maranatha Open Bible Church. Barbara married John Barlow, Jr. on October 15, 2011, and they enjoyed 13 wonderful years before his passing on October 24, 2024. They were happily married and still acted like newlyweds even after years of marriage.

Barbara passed away Thursday, June 19, 2025, at the age of 65.

She is survived by her parents, Lucille and Harvey Berry; sister, Brenda (Les) Vannoy; niece, Shawna (Chad) Cooper; and great-nieces, Elizabeth (Andrew) Rucker and Jazmine Cooper. Barbara is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Sherrie (Jim) Leaf and Nancy (Greg) Davis; nieces, Anna Tenny (Zach), Meia Tenny, and Sophia Tenny; nephews, Tanner Leaf and Jordon Clyce; and many more.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, John Barlow; and her grandparents, Hattie and Ralph Berry, and Elizabeth and Chester Moore.

There will be a celebration of life from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Radiant Church, 1300 Metro E. Drive, Pleasant Hill.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Barbara.
