Brian C. Thompson

Brian Clark Thompson, 64, passed away peacefully under hospice care on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at Harmony Nursing Home in Cedar Rapids.
Brian was born August 12, 1961, in Des Moines, Iowa to Harold and Emma (Wellons) Thompson. He graduated from East High School and proudly served in the United States Army. Brian worked as a truck driver, lastly for Heinz, and was a Freemason and a member of the Shriners. Brian met his wife Sherene and moved to Cedar Rapids in 1990 to be with her.
Brian loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them, especially his son, Ryan. He loved games and particularly liked Rockband and phone games. He was a movie buff and enjoyed old westerns and action movies the best; some of his favorite actors were Bruce Lee, Steven Segal, and Clint Eastwood.
He is survived by his wife, Sherene; sons, Ryan Thompson, Terry Murray, and Tyler Murray; siblings, Pam Briggs, Terry Thompson, Cheryl Thompson, and Dona Thompson; his cat, Presley; and other extended family and friends.
Brian was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Emma Thompson; sister-in-law, Pam Thompson; brother, Harold Wayne Thompson; nephews, Matt and Scott; and his cats, Smudges, Felix, Smokey, and Shadow.
Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m., followed immediately by a funeral service at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 13, 2026, ay Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Cremation will take place after the service and Brian will be interred at Iowa Veterans Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 15, 2026.
