Bernice Frances Hoffman

Bernice Frances Hoffman, 98, of West Des Moines, Iowa passed away on Monday, October 6th, 2025.

Bernice was born May 11, 1927 to Henry and Mary Gawerecki in Omaha, NE. She married Richard Charles Hoffman in 1949 and they were married for 20 years before his death in 1969. She worked for the Omaha Public Schools, as well as in the jewelry department at Kohl's. She enjoyed spending time reading, doing crossword puzzles, and spending time with family. Bernice constantly thought of others and worked tirelessly to make others' lives easier whenever she was given the opportunity.

She is survived by her grandchildren, Chaz (Liz) Hoffman and Megan Algya; two great -grandchildren, Elsey Hoffman and William Hoffman; and sister-in-law, Eula Gawerecki.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two children, Mary Algya and Charles (Chuck) Hoffman; and eight brothers and sisters.

A celebration of life visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 17, 2025 at Heafey- Hoffmann -Dworak -Cutler, 7805 W. Center Road in Omaha, Nebraska.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a church or charity of one’s choice.
