September 25, 1945 — February 03, 2026
Beth Helen Halverson, 80, passed away at her home, surrounded by family, on February 3, 2026, in Urbandale, Iowa.
Beth was born September 25, 1945, in Decorah, Iowa, to Clayton and Helen (Jerman) Haugen. She graduated from Decorah High School in 1963 and married her high school sweetheart, Robert “Bob” Halverson, in 1964. A talented pianist and organist, Beth shared her musical gifts with her church and local funeral homes. Thoughtful and deeply cherished by those who knew her, she found joy in book clubs, bowling, walking, and time spent with family and friends. Beth especially loved traveling with Bob, exploring the United States and the world. Through their involvement with the American Volkssport Association, the couple completed walks in all 50 states and enjoyed experiencing different cultures abroad. Beth was a member of St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church in Urbandale.
Beth is survived by her husband of 61 years, Bob; daughters, Lori Hays (Patrick), Helen Halverson, and Sara Whitehead (David); grandchildren, Matthew Hays (Ashton), Karista Deuhs, Annalise Whitehead, and Madeleine Whitehead; great-grandchild, Riley Hays; brother, Jan Haugen (Sharon); and many other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Bradley Hays; and brother, Gary Haugen.

To Bob and family,
So sorry to hear of Beth's passing. Sad to know we;ve lived in the Des Moines area for all these years and never connected after high school. My memories of Beth are all good, from her clarinet playing to her infectious smile. She will be missed. My prayers are with you.
